How Miele holds up in Palisades homes
Many Pacific Palisades kitchens use Miele as fully integrated equipment, with dishwashers and refrigeration hidden behind panels that match the cabinetry. That looks great, but it means repairs often start with careful removal of trim and panels. Ocean air and the marine layer carry salt and moisture that can slowly corrode exposed contacts, hinges and laundry room parts. Los Angeles tap water also leaves noticeable mineral deposits, which build up in dishwashers, steam ovens and coffee systems. Laundry rooms set in garages or lower levels can run damp, which affects how dryers vent and dry.
The Miele problems we see most often
Dishwasher fault codes and drain errors usually trace back to a clogged filter, debris lodged in the drain pump or a kinked hose. If water reaches the base, the leak protection system can lock the machine out until the source is found. A washer that won't spin often has a blocked drain pump or an unbalanced load. Dryers that stop heating typically have lint-packed filters or airways, or a failed sensor. Steam oven descaling faults point to heavy scale or skipped cycles, and door lock problems come from worn latches or residue. A $95 diagnostic visit tells you exactly which it is.
Simple habits that keep Miele running well
Pull and rinse the dishwasher filter every few weeks, and keep the water softener topped up with reactivation salt if your model has one. When a steam oven or coffee system asks for descaling, run the full cycle without interrupting it; filtered water in the coffee system slows scale buildup. Clean dryer lint filters after every load. Leave the washer door and detergent drawer slightly open between washes so the gasket dries. Near the coast, wipe stainless surfaces and door seals with a damp cloth now and then to remove salt film before it causes corrosion.

Our freezer stopped working recently. When I called West Appliance Service they came to my home to assess the problem within 1 hour of calling. They were able to come back the next day to complete the repairs once they knew what parts they needed. The service was quick, smooth, and well done. We had a great experience working with Ivan and highly recommend anyone to use their services. We will definitely be a repeat customer if our appliances need repair.
